First ski of 2013

After a particularly cold winter of wind, snow, rain a brief spell of sunshine appeared on the weekend of the first club Power Day of the season. A few of us went out for the first dip of the year in the sea and it wasn't too bad. The sunshine did make a difference though!Everyone has been repairing / tweaking / upgrading bit and pieces on their boats for the new season and the time to get back on the water has arrived.
Despite the sunshine the air temperature was still pretty cold. The sea was fairly flat as we headed towards the Longscar Bell but grew into a gentle swell further out. The wind on the face was biting!
After this quick blast it was ski on and in the water, the yelps soon subsided as the water really wasn't too bad. 15-20 minutes round the short course was enough to make the feet go numb and call a halt to the day's effort. The others had failed to get started with a snapped ski line and then engine problems, not a day for sitting in the water! A few jetskiers were on the water later by which time we had come in for a hot shower and coffee!

A full programme for the season is planned, albeit weather dependant. Power days for general meeting up of the section with a BBQ. A Charity run to Whitby is planned also aswell as some fun time trials. Ski coaching for juniors and seniors is planned also.......
