Trips away...

View from Cashel

Power & ski  members have visited various places in the past for excursions elsewhere to waterski and jetski. The Northumberland coast offers many places for offshore activity within easy reach whilst further north the Scottish lochs offer a wide range of places for Watersports. Loch Ken, Loch Earn and Loch Lomond are all places members have visited in the past. Loch Lomond in particular has a wide range of facilities to suit most needs from camp sites to hotels on the waterside with easy access to the water. The Loch operates a managed policy for use so craft must register. There is a speed limit also of 40mph. The east side of the Loch is the quieter side of the water, the main A85 runs up the west side. Rowardennan is at the head of the road on the east, after which it's footpath only on this side of the Loch on the west highland way up to the Inversnaid Hotel. Rowardennan offers a hotel or holiday lodges. There are slips and jetties here too. Access to Ben Lomond is also here for those feeling energetic enough. The ptarmigan route is 3 miles, whilst the easier tourist route is 4 miles to the summit.Further down the road there are campsites at Cashel and Millarochy. Both are good sites and affiliated to the camping and caravan club with slipways. Millarochy has a jetty and club members have used this site before.  Sallochy campsite is tents only. Balmaha further south is a quaint loch side village. The name derives from the Gaelic bealach mo-cha meaning the pass of st. Mocha. The Patron Saint of the parish lived on the nearby island of Inchcailloch. This island allows public access and You can walk the trails with great views from the summit path. Access is via your own craft or the ferry from the Balmaha boat yard.

The St.Mocha coffee shop serves excellent snacks and cakes whilst the Oak Tree inn next door has a more substantial tasty menu.
Further south Inchmurrin is the largest and most southerly isle before the town of Balloch. Privately owned the island has a pub and holiday cottages. Pull up for lunch or a drink at the pub. A ferry runs from the west side of the loch. Inchmurrin is a spot where members have stayed before for waterski holidays.
