The first of the ski race training series took place on the 9th of April. The weather was cool with breezy conditions across the course. The water was quite choppy around all of the circuit. Only two teams were on the water for this initial outing as there was a shortage of crew members. The Bullet driven by Neil Mackechnie towed Simon Binks with Glenys Thompson observing whilst Clean Sweep was driven by Jimmy Gilderoy with Kyle Crosby in the observers seat.
The first few circuits were steady as the skiers warmed up. This was was the first time both has skied in the training series since water skiing was put on hold a few years ago. After a few laps the pace picked up and Dave took a slight lead. However at the end of the 4th lap power seemed to fail and the boat stopped. After a short while they were up and running again but stopped again in the next lap and then retired. Simon duly took the flag at the end of the 20 minute training session and recorded 1000 points for the training series.
Thanks to Anne Madge for the photo's and all the others who helped on the day.
