Frostbite Waterski Race 2017

The Frostbite race took place on 3rd of December in unseasonal warm and sunny conditions. Only 3 contenders this year were in the running for the Frosbite trophy.

Bullet was duty tow boat for the day with Mac at the wheel whilst Dave Binks and Geoff Watson were on timing.Young Daniel was in charge of the flags. The skiers were observing for each other as they swapped over. The circuit was again 8 laps of the basin approximately 5km.
Dave starts his 8 lap run

Dave Owens took the first heat and laid down the measure for the rest to follow covering the course in 5 minutes 22 seconds. Dave also set the fastest lap of the day. Simon Binks was next going off at a good pace, but was somewhat down on Dave's speed. The 10 second gap at the 1st lap extended to 12 seconds on the next lap and continued to extend to the end with Simon finishing in 5:28. After Simon it was Geoff's turn. The first few laps were just a second off Dave's time and by lap 4 the times were equal on 2:35. However the pace went off a little and seconds slipped on each lap finishing eventually on 5:28. Dave therefore continues his run of Frostbite wins!
Thank you to Hartlepool Marina for the use of the facilities and also to Anne Madge for her photos and video.
